The Bitterroot River is not the only river in the great state of Montana to fall victim to “old car” rip rap. Several others also have the unsightly “old car” rip rap as well and I can’t help but ask myself, what were they thinking? It not only looks horrible, but the old lead paint on those cars and the left over fluids from them certainly can’t be good for the precious water that runs over them every single day of the year. So why is it we as a society turn a blind eye to this and who thought is was acceptable in the first place?
